James is a very sweet boy although he can be a little withdrawn in places he is unfamiliar with. He will therefore need some time and space in his new home to settle, adjust and get used to his new surroundings. James can live in a household with other dogs of a similar size and children as young as 9-years-old. James loves to play and interact with other dogs, but he isn’t great with social cues and tends to ‘rush in’; he can also be a bit boisterous and over-excited when meeting dogs for the first time. With some time and additional training, however, this is something that can definitely be worked on. James would thrive with a family that can dedicate the time and energy to ensuring his needs are fully met and helping him become the very best version of himself. * This dog is currently being rehomed under our Homestay scheme. Under this scheme, the dog stays with their current owner until the point of adoption, when ownership transfers briefly to Dogs Trust and then to the new adopters. The benefits of Homestay for a dog are that it minimises disruption and prevents the dog having to come into kennels, however there is the potential the owner may pull out of the scheme prior to adoption. We understand the upset this may cause to potential adopters, and we work closely with owners to minimise the likelihood of this. However, it remains a possibility, and should this occur, Dogs Trust will prioritise finding adopters an alternative suitable dog.
