About Barry Bollinger

I grew up in rural Carroll County, Maryland on a working dairy farm where I spent most of my time doing just that – working. Aside from the long list of daily duties of living on the farm, I spent any “free” time with my father hunting pheasants and rabbits with beagle dogs in the late 70s and early 80s. Unfortunately, by the 90s, pheasants in the state of Maryland were completely gone, and I put bird hunting on the back burner for a while. In 2009, my family welcomed Friedelsheims Luci, our first German Shorthair Pointer (GSP), into our home. Luci was the missing link and blessing in disguise that reconnected me to hunting upland game and waterfowl countrywide, but also lead me into the Friedelsheims bloodline and the NAVDHA world. Since then, I’ve spent 13+ years as an active member in the Potomac NAVDHA Chapter and spent a brief time as a training coordinator within the chapter. Now as a Pro Trainer and owner of Freight Train Gun Dogs, I continue to hold a membership with NAVDHA and focus on horseback field trials in a competitive atmosphere. My family has 5 GSPs of our own and Freight Train Gun Dogs continues to grow and train high quality bird dogs at all levels country wide.
