Rathdrum, Idaho, United States
Hello, my name is Kristina Sheppard. My family and I run the Prairie Pines Ranch which is located on the edge of the Rathdrum Prairie in Northern Idaho near beautiful Coeurd'Alene, Idaho. This is about an hour from the Spokane, WA Airport. We take great pride in ethically raising a small herd of organic, grass fed sheep, Nubian and Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats and registered Paint horses. I've cared for, raised, trained and shown many animals since childhood. My family and I have owned Basset hounds as beloved pets and members of our indoor household for over 20 years. We are not a puppy mill. We will not sell our puppies to pet shops or puppy brokers. We are offering top quality 100 percent European bred Basset puppies from very limited and select breeding of our Bassets. We have only one male, Gibley the Gregarious of Bohemia. I have only two breeding females and I do not under any circumstances breed either of them more than once a year, so typically I will have 2 litters of puppies ea!ch year. My females are Prairie Pines June Bug who is a beautiful tri-color. She has a very silly personality. She is extremely smart and is my "tv watcher" . Her favorite show which gets her extremely animated is Dr. Jeff Rocky Mountain Pet Vet. My other female is a very large and very wrinkly and squishy red and white. Her name is Prairie Pines Gloria. She is all about love ....and treats. They both love to cuddle but Gloria has to be the ultimate snuggler with all her extra skin she is like hugging a huge twinkie pillow. Both females are 100 percent European. Sire's, Sire and Dam were imported from the Czech Republic, Russia, Ukraine and Poland from some of the top kennels that produce champion bloodlines. They are shown in AKC conformation dog shows. I am not currently showing our dogs. I feed all our dogs a top quality holistic dog food, organic food from our property and select vitamins, minerals and oils in order to keep them healthy and vibrant and to give the puppies the best start possible. I also use DogZymes Puppy-Bac for milk which was formulated by Vets when I wean the puppies. I hand feed the dam every 3 hours for the first week after the puppies are born and they are never left unattended. Our puppies are born and family raised indoors with lots of love and we can't help but give them constant attention! They are socialized with our other bassets, our cat Chester, our farm dog Honey Bear, my 18 year old Chihuahua Chulita and sometimes baby goats if they are born while the puppies are inside. I purposely use lots of household appliances around the puppies so they get used to the noises. At 5 weeks, we begin taking them outside for short periods of time to exercise and play. The puppies come pre-spoiled and very well socialized with other children, adults including elderly. They are very healthy, chubby and covered in soft wrinkles with sweet and loving dispositions. Being 100 percent European they will have tons of wrinkles and extra skin. Our European Bassets adore cuddling with us on the couch and getting lots of loving attention. Previously we bred our American Basset Streudel, however she is now enjoying a very happy and lazy retirement here. I do not sell my adult bassets when they are retired from having litters. They are family. Our dogs are kept in our home and in the yard and only kenneled to sleep at night if they don't fit in my bed! If you are serious about getting one of our beloved puppies please call and ask if there are still puppies available from a current litter or you can request to be put on a waiting list for any planned future litter. Currently we are not shipping our puppies via cargo, however it is possible for a new owner to meet me at my local airport (Spokane, WA) and take a puppy on a flight back to their new home as carry on. There is a small fee to cover expenses to airport. Puppy dewclaws have been removed and all puppies will be up to date on vaccinations and de-worming.
Low-key charmer with the best nose after the Bloodhound. Patient, loyal, and endearingly stubborn.
