Ransomshire Shepherds is located near Raleigh, North Carolina. Ellen has owned GSDs for over twenty-five years, and started breeding German Shepherd Dogs in 1998. We do our best to raise these pups as encouraged in the book The Art of Raising a Puppy by The Monks of New Skete. We encourage all prospective puppy owners to READ this book. Then do your research and be prepared with questions to ask breeders. Make sure you are not only choosing the right breed for you, but also that you’re getting a top quality puppy from a reliable individual who knows and understands the breed and who tests for health issues. Those first weeks are important to the character, growth, and development of your puppy. We provide early brain stimulation, lots of interaction with people, and real life situations (for instance, we feed them individually in their crates to help them get used to crate training, we fire off firecrackers daily to desensitize them to loud noises, we bring lots of visitors in to play with the pups, etc.) to help prepare your puppies for their life with you. We also take care to match puppies with the home they will have the best match for, according to the personality of the pup and the desires of the family. We take pride in finding just the right forever homes for our dogs. We want happy dogs and pleased owners.
